How to have a Socially Distant, Summer Picnic
Who would have thought that this summer would be one that we would never forget? It seems like all the plans that we had and the celebrations that were scheduled have all been postponed or cancelled. But summer, and having a good time with family and friends, is not cancelled! There are many ways to stay social while still prioritizing health, and we think that a picnic is one of the best ways to enjoy the summer and stay connected with friends! Here’s how we like to picnic in these very special times.
(Special thanks to our friend Olivia Marshall for capturing all the details!)
THE DESIGN
To elevate your picnic, one of the best things that you can do is find a cute blanket, some festive pillows and a pouf or two! We found our Boho set from Bon Ton Studio and I think you’ll agree that having the right decor instantly levels up your set up! Another fun idea is to grab a straw tote or bag (you know, the one that you were saving to use for the vacation that is currently not happening) and fill it with flowers! This is an easy and economical way to add style to your set up. Your friends will also love it because, who doesn’t love flowers? We can already envision them sticking flowers in their hair and grabbing a few stems to go on the way out.
HOW WE PUT IT ALL TOGETHER
Because safety is at the top of everyone’s minds, the best way to have a safe picnic, is to create individual portions to distribute and share amongst friends! For our picnic, we created individual picnic boxes filled with delicious green graze sandwiches (the most delicious vegetarian sandwiches you will ever have!) and lemon blueberry scones. To make our picnic boxes extra special, we designed picnic box labels to enclose the boxes with. Your friends and family will be impressed at the thoughtfulness, the packaging and the safety measures in play!
We know that everyone loves a charcuterie platter that is overflowing with goodness, so we opted to created individual portions of all the elements of a charcuterie board for each person. They were a hit and so easy to prepare, pack and distribute! We used these bamboo plates, loaded them up with our favorite cheeses, crackers and fruits, and wrapped them with plastic wrap. Our finishing touch? A custom designed sticker that once again, makes everything feel so personal.
Also as an FYI, a tomato and cheese galette or onion galette will always be a crowd pleaser! Serve them on cutting boards, cut them up and pass them around. We promise that everyone will love these! (PS. We will be sharing the recipes to these soon!)
Last but not least, have a healthy selection of sparkling wines. I love that there are so many good canned options that make day drinking so accessible and fun. Pair them with one of our printable coasters to add festivity to the day.
We know that this summer is one that is like no other, but we hope that through a little bit of creativity and out of the box thinking, it can be just as memorable and eventful as any other. Stay healthy, summer hard!
